Put them together and the fox narrates all the reasons not to go, and the bear, grateful, agrees — they’ve talked each other into the den a hundred times. It feels like safety. It’s just two ways of not being out there.

The bear picks one small thing it’s been avoiding and does it before noon — ten minutes, then back to the den. Nobody has to fix the other. You just both move once, while the day is still early.
